went to the white stripes show at madison square garden last tuesday. they played a million miles an hour. this is a shot from the show i found. the whole set was a solid red, no special effects-just some strategically placed lighting on a red backdrop (and a giant disco ball for a few songs). and they played cannon and jolene. this photo looks like it could have been during jolene actually. it was incredible. i think they should play there once a week.

heres an image that came out of nowhere as i was giving kevin "kc" casey a quick photoshop tutorial. he just wanted a few basic pointers-how to arrange layers/levels/colors. as you can see he also wanted to know the obligatory lens flare-which i told him not to get too crazy with. he wont-hes tasteful in his design choices. either way--this is the image that just sort of appeared with no thought being put into it after the twenty minute tutorial. maybe its an exercise in unconscious design work. i wonder if there is such a thing. if there isnt then i just made it up. sweet. its simple and stupid, yes-but also kinda cool in a strange sort of way. kev also hooked me up HUGE with a shiny new wacom intuos tablet that he somehow got for free from where hes working now--so if you see him on the street give him a big hug and kiss for me.

another little drawing from my sketchbook. kinda reminds me of some sort of jessica stockholder piece-albeit a crappy and not fully realized one. shes a fantastic artist that the gallery i used to work at represents.
Mitchell-Innes and Nash.

lots of controversy always surrounding pete rose, but i like the way he played baseball. it would be great if more guys played like him now. i was just looking at the rosters and salaries of the current mlb teams and as you all know its just mind blowing. they should all play like pete rose did-absolutely all out every out of every inning of every game.

"here are just a few of the key ingredients...

dynamite, pole vaulting, laughing gas...

choppers...

can you see how incredible this is gonna be?...

hang gliding, come...

on!"

alternate for "...come on!"
some thumbnails for my next animation. i actually had time tonight to open up maya and get the first few keys blocked out. exciting stuff. hopefully by the end of this week ill have made some significant progress on this eight second clip from Bottle Rocket. Its owen wilson's character dignan trying to get his brother luke's character anthony to join him in a scheme to rob a factory. i think its pretty funny so we'll have to wait and see how it turns out.
in unrelated news--here is a link to a very funny interview with the guys from flight of the conchords.
